Hoof prints of the past...
For many years we have held our herds under the belief of Yentai, how he died and brought us to what we know as our home, where we have lived for decades. Now his legend is close to being forgotten, but before it is, I wish to tell it to you...
In the time of Yentai, we lived wild, free, and happy. our days were marked to his will, he lead and he chose those who lived of the colts and those he banished or killed. My great grandfather was one of the lucky ones, chosen to be the Adviser for the Lights. For years to come they roamed far nd wide, just as free as ever.
Unfortunately though, two-leggeds arrived. they rounded them up, using long sticks that wounded and often killed and vine that waved, snapped, and stung at their will. The herd fought long and hard, unwilling to go, but hardest fought Yentai. As long as he fought, so did the others, that's when disaster came. A crack like thunder sounded, and Yentai's fell to the ground, flanks unmoving, and eyes glazed over.
Now we went, our spirit and will to be free gone with Yentai. For many days and nights we stayed in boxes that trapped us in a small place, separated from each other we sticks with only enough room between them to give a comforting nuzzle or two.
Yentai came back though, he saved us, his fury unleashed in the storm that tossed and turned the ship, that brought us into the sea. We swam, swam with the waves, away from the sinking ships and drowning humans. We swam for hours, though helped by Yentai's waves we arrived in a strange new place. The air was free of the stink of humans, we were free once more.
The herd split up however, the Darks were lead by the Dark adviser, Neutrals by the Neutral's adviser, and Lights by my great grandfather, thus we set off, claiming lands, and soon became twelve different herds, but that was then. I have not heard from other herds in a long time...
